ICEGATE (Indian Customs EDI Gateway)

CBIC's electronic gateway for filing and tracking Indian customs documents. Home of every shipping bill filed at any Indian port.

Definition

ICEGATE — Indian Customs Electronic Data Interchange Gateway — is the public-facing portal of India's Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). It fronts the Indian Customs EDI System (ICES) where every filed shipping bill and bill of entry lives. Data from ICEGATE feeds directly into EDPMS and IDPMS.

What ICEGATE does

• Accepts customs filings from customs brokers (shipping bills, bills of entry)
• Provides public query for filed documents (no login required)
• Provides registered dashboard with EDPMS status per shipping bill, filing history, amendment requests
• Distributes filing data downstream to RBI systems (EDPMS + IDPMS)
• Serves eBRC lookup, drawback status, RoDTEP claim tracking

Access

• Public Enquiry — no login. Just port code + SB number + date
• Registered access — requires Class 3 DSC + IEC linkage. Unlocks EDPMS status per SB + amendment filing

For Indian FBA exporters

If you've never logged into ICEGATE yourself, you're at the mercy of your customs broker for updates. Every FBA exporter should register and check monthly. The registered dashboard's EDPMS view shows exactly which shipping bills are unrealized and how many days remain in the 9-month window — critical for planning extension or write-off requests.
