IDPMS (Import Data Processing and Monitoring System)

RBI system tracking whether foreign-exchange payments for Indian imports match legitimate imports declared at customs. Import counterpart of EDPMS.

Definition

IDPMS — Import Data Processing and Monitoring System — is the RBI system that mirrors EDPMS but for imports. It tracks whether foreign-exchange payments an Indian importer makes to overseas suppliers correspond to legitimate imports declared at Indian customs.

How it works

When IDPMS matters to FBA sellers

Pure Indian-manufactured FBA sellers typically don't touch IDPMS. But if your supply chain involves imports — packaging materials, raw components, private-label products manufactured overseas — every import creates an IDPMS entry that must be reconciled to your outward remittance.

Common IDPMS gotchas

Treat IDPMS with the same seriousness as EDPMS — both feed the same caution-list mechanism.
