RoDTEP (Remission of Duties and Taxes on Export Products)

DGFT scheme reimbursing Indian exporters for embedded taxes and duties in their exports. Rates vary by HS code.

Definition

RoDTEP — Remission of Duties and Taxes on Export Products — is a DGFT scheme that reimburses Indian exporters for embedded central and state taxes (fuel duty, electricity duty, mandi tax, stamp duty) that aren't rebated under any other mechanism. It replaced the MEIS scheme in 2021.

How it works

Eligibility

Most goods qualify. Excluded categories include: iron & steel exports, dairy, some pharma. Check the current rate schedule on DGFT's portal before assuming eligibility.

For Indian FBA exporters

Your realized foreign exchange (from Amazon settlements, minus Amazon's platform fees) will always be less than the FOB value you declared at customs. DGFT scales your RoDTEP benefit proportionally to realization. Plan for this in your scheme-benefit modelling — a 15% Amazon commission cut effectively caps your recoverable RoDTEP at 85% of the notional benefit.

See eBRC vs EDPMS for the interaction between realization tracking and scheme claims.
